Below is the Paint colour and code chart for the Triumph TR6 which was used throughout the TR6 build period.

When I was restoring TR6s’ to Concours standard I took a lot of time to research in books, photos and looking at original and untouched TR6's for the positioning of decals, badges, paint etc. etc. to get things right and correct.  These are a few photos and possibly some useful information. These are some pictures which explains the location of fitment on the the TR6 and also differences of the parts fitted model to model.

The top one is the Overdrive relay , bottom is the horn relay, situated on the LH Front inner wing.














TR6 3M pre spaced transfers on Rear Wing Decals for UK market and ROW

White  Decals on Red, Blue and Green cars

Black Decals on Yellow cars.

Red Decal on White cars




TR6 Rear Wing Decal produced by 3M as a pre-spaced transfer, only for the CF TR6’s USA market only, these are handed Left and Right side





Earlier CP cars had Static seatbelts CR cars had inertia seatbelts.






Body Numbers stamped on aluminium plates on bulkhead the  lower number riveted on in body in white, prior to painting. The other was riveted on the production line.






The commission number  plate fitted on the  LH wheel arch up to end of 1972 model Fitted on LH “B” post 1973 on early models had LBS, later had Kilos.






E!1 label on LHF bulkhead on 1972 TR6 models. 1973 models had an additional small square label above.






LHD petrol European injection Accelerator pedal which is noticeably different from the UK market and the USA TR6





Left Hand Drive CF USA market accelerator pedal. Again different.

Oriiginally Yellow and Black Striped (Tigers Tail) Triumph changed the water hoses to Lichfield green colour. Wire clips not jubilee held them in place






TR6 Transfer on RH Rear  wing in relation to rear light cluster. Originally manufactured by 3M.






The Semi matt black paint on the rear valance and boot lid. The line follows on to the rear wing. It was applied to all TR6’s from 1969  until 1976.

The UK / European market TR6s’ had Petrol Injection badge. The USA market had Overdrive badge  (if fitted).




Lucas Pacemaker battery was initially fitted






CP/CC series TR6’s had 15” steering wheels CR/CF cars on had 14” whith more pronounced stitching effect.






Brake master cylinder to cylinder head pipe had yellow stripe on it.







I made this wheel insert out of foam, especially handy for long distance trips. It houses Injectors, M/U, F/Pump, M/U drive dog, PRV, fuses etc. situated in the spare wheel.
